BrickPi for LEGO Mindstorms and the Raspberry Pi (BrickPi Basic Power)

The BrickPi is a module that communicates between LEGO sensors, motors and the Raspberry Pi. This package includes the BrickPi Board and a sturdy acrylic case for attaching LEGO components, motors, and sensors.

The Lego Mindstorms fan will be able to create some new amaising robots with the new brickPi. The I2C BrickPI interface from Dexter Industries is now available in Europe.

Replacing the Lego Mindstorms brick by the famous Raspberry PI, the Do It Yourself fan can now play with their Lego Mindstorms on a low cost and open device! Indeed, the BrickPI use an Atmega328 microcontroller from Atmel (like the Arduino UNO), you will be able to create you own BrickPI firmware if you want so.

The BrickPI interface is based on:

1 USB connector in order to power your Raspberry PI

With the Python Library provided by Dexter Industries, you will be able to easly drive Lego Mindstorms equipement from your microComputer.

The raspberry Pi provides two USB ports and one ethernet port, you can imagine right now the amount of possibilities provided by such a device for all your robot projects.

For example, you can use the brickPi to combine some Arduino sensors and actuators with Lego Mindstorms sensors and actuators and learn in the same time how to use an embedded exploitation system based on linux .
